G'day all, its been a while........
here are a couple from a recent trip away........while on the road we passed this old run down shed and yard that had a heap of old cars and trucks etc..... I just had to stop. These were taken through a wire fence, I would have liked to get in but thought better of it.......I could picture an old bloke with a shotgun some where.......:o

I was in a b&w mood with the pp
C&C welcome

Cool shots, number 2 is a real cracker. Good old English morris...what a shame. Great contrast and "feel". Like the positioning and contrast of the sign in number 1 my eye was immediately drawn to it and it adds some context and story to the image.
Welcome BAck Russt, the B&W works very well with these

Well done, R. The DOF on #2 is perfect.
Yep, number 2 mine also;is that a Morris Minor 1000? Odd, but though the bonnet(er, is that "hood" in the US?) seems different, the rest of it could be easily the car my dad had in the 60s. Well, not the exact same car of course. Ours had a "We've seen the Lions of Longleat" sticker in the windscreen...arf!

To me also #2 is my favorite as it is. I like a lot the subject and how you composed your picture. I find the contrast very nice.
#1 I like it but I think it is a bit spooky... I would suggest something to grab your attention probably make a cut out? or adding a silhouete? or a pair of red shoes? so to say...

Thanks all for your comments.................I had the feeling that #2 might be the pick.
Zig, I think it is the 1000 there were quite a few around out here..........(but I could be wrong)
Irma, spooky is what I was going for in #1 and I do agree it needs something else hmmmm...........might have a play later
Navis, Toad and Craig thanks again!
absolutely beautiful. give me a run down place like that or an old building on the verge of collapse and i'd be there all week.
er....essaljay, what you like with a paintbrush....?

why? do you want one photographed? am I the only one who find these places fascinating?
No, I love these kinds of places too Essaljay. There is a ghost town just over the Sierra's from me. about a 4 hour drive through Yosemite away, I love to make that trip.
Oh I especially like the second shot, really nice tones in that
I love the texture of these. Any special technique?
thanks essaljay, kkart and Don
Don, I used adobe lightroom for the b&w conversion..........with this program, in the grayscale channel mixer you can use a button to click on any part of your pic and adjust by sliding the mouse. this makes it easy to pick different parts of your picture and adjust them........eg to chanage the tone of the grass just click on it and slide your mouse up and down. This can also be done with the tone curve as well.
In colour pics you can do the same for saturation click the colour you want on your pitcure and slide you mouse.
It is easier to do than explain.........it does offer good control.
I also use a couple of different sharpening methods which can bring out different texture and detail. A high pass will give a different result to unsharp mask. They will also change the contrast. I often mask to be selective as to where its applied and also change to opacity.
