We went to take pictures with some friends yesterday. We saw the lake and the fisherman and we all shout... Stop!! to the driver... We had to go to the lake. It was great. Foggy and with beautiful morning light, and this man was fishing at this time 8 a.m.... He left the place as soon as we arrived... Probably thinking Oh! Man... all my fish are gone now...

Anyway... I took my nikon and the 18-70mm lens with the idea of playing a bit with the assignament limitations... so I took this picture... It didn't turn out so beautiful as the place was, but trying to make the best of what I have, I've been playing with it all morning... I am not quite sure about my image, that is why I post it here...

From the original picture I cloned out the bush as you can see. I converted bw in PS, added a layer of texture to work with the foreground (to make it a bit interesting), and a layer of texture in the whole picture to enhance the foggy mood...

Here you go. All i did was darken the darks slightly and add a slight vignette. (you may have noticed i like vignettes).

It's a really nice pic.

Thanks so much for your advice RB and for the time to work with my picture... I really wanted to keep somehow that foggy mood in the picture but you are right a bit of contrast helps somehow...

I had the pictures for hours in front of me thinking that something was wrong and I just only noticed the big mistake when it was in the post.... Then I couldn't repair it, had to go shopping... :/

The reflection is wrong... Doesn't match with the trees, I cloned from the right part (where there aren't trees) to the left to remove the bush. I removed the bush but the reflection looks identical in both sides. So what I did now was a new crop, removed fog... and added contrast. Added also a new colorizing layer a bit bluer to unify the color...





I see some improvements like this.

Yeah, I hadn't noticed the reflection either. Looks much better now.

Irma, I really like your second version. In the first one I didn't like the "fake mists" look so much.

your picture remotely reminds me of one I took last year in Huainan

Sorry if you dont like this edit . I think the shot has some mood to it , and i wanted to add more to help it out ...
I cropped it tighter so the sky wasnt so " noticable " . Like i said i hope you like it ...

Shawn, G told me as well, that I should use the bushes to have more interest in the foreground. Now that I see it in your try, I can see the idea...

What took me a bit of time was the edges and the holes of the trees, but it was my mistake. I started wrong so I had a bit more work to do.
