I like the sky in both images. If there was a little more foreground in #2, it would be my favourite.

Yes, HDR. #2 is two HDR's stitched together.

Q. Is there a way to take these without blowing the lights too much.
Q. Would a polaroid filter cut the excess glare.

Wow, amazing shots. I just downloaded the fullsize of #1 - it took a while but it's worth the time. There is a lot of detail to look at. Really breathtaking...

Number 1 is my favorite. It looks like jewels--magical!
