This is my first attempt at fireworks. I would appreciate comments with regards to the in-camera part as well as any hints for post-processing. Thank you. Pavel P.S. Is this image too big?

I like very much your picture Pavel.
I see that you worked a nice composition, and the colors are really beautiful, very vivid.
About your treatment, I think there is very little to do in an image like this one. The only thing you could do is to clone out all those lights in the ground and leave only the car, the light coming from the car and the sparkles. Also it could be that if you leave out all this you might think one might miss part of the story.
Did you work something with those two long light in the bottom? They look a bit dark to me, if they were as bright as the sparkles would be fine, because they are light after all.

Thank you Irma, a friend dropped by an suggested to me that I get rid of the lights along the lake and leave just the boat. To me it looked a little counterintuitive, as I thought I will loose context, but you and he were right and it does look better without the lights along the lake.

I thought that the bottom part of the firworks were too "burned out and I reduced the exposure a bit. I guess it s obvious and not well done. I am new to CS3 and still do not know how to do things. Is it that I should not have reduced the exposure or that I did it too much or is it that i should have done something else? Thanks Pavel

I think if you have had the lights in focus they would have been a great addition to the story.
Part of the beauty of fireworks are the colors and highlights. I think you should leave them blown out and not to work any treatment there. They look really nice specially because they have color around the blown out area.
