I haven't entered a photography competition in recent memory, but I found out the other day that my wife entered a couple of my images for a contest at the local shopping centre. Anyway, I thought I'd share a link I found:

Any news about your pictures in the contest?

I have read few times that competitions help to improve your photography, but I don't think it helps too much. In some way, yes, you are pushed to have a good level in your work, but it doesn't asure you will win. Too much has to do with the idea, style, technique the judges prefer.
