Sunset time stairing at the waves from top of an obsedrvation post. Critique please - totally unedited in software - just conversion. Just to preempt Matthew - I know about a dust spot. Pavel

This is beautiful Pavel - the lighting, composition, movement. (I don't notice a dust spot) I believe this is one of my favorites of yours.
I agree; gorgeous mood.
Hi, Pavel! (per your request)

I really do like this image. Your chosen shutter speed is ideal. No cotton candy here. I believe that you have achieved, to some extent, that smooth, shiny look that you say eludes you. The classic diagonal in this composition effectively bisects the photo in two. I love the detail and the smoothness evident in the lower left half. I personally find the other half a little too bright, featureless and just a bit difficult to look at because of the brightness. The overall image does, however, have its charm.

Yes, I see the dust spot right in the middle of the big, bisecting wave. I completely ignored it when composing the above. I did not take off any points for that.

Regards.....Dennis
Thank you all for commenting. I agree abot the brightness on the right. I entered it in a competition on another site and it had to be straight from camera shot - thus no embelishments. I am glad you like it. Pavel
I like the colors and the gentleness of the water in this picture. My eye did not know where to settle. Cropping didn't come to me initially. I tried tall...no way. I tried taking some off the side...not that either. The top left rock was a little light and distracting so I tried cropping that away...no, not that either. I think I liked the cropping best when I top the entire top line down to the top of that light rock on the left. It seemed to contain the scene and made me more comforable. Just my opinion. The cropster.
Ah Pippin, I should hae you as an advisor on each photo I make. Every time you come up with better crop than I do - amazing! It would lob off some of the bright stuff on the right would be removed. Actually, I did not think much about cropping, as I submitted it for a competition on a site and the rules are no post-processing. Just Raw > Jpeg. I will remember the comment and implement it though. Thanks Pavel

Oh Pippin - Did I say welcome to the site? Well even if I did, let me say it again. Warm welcome. Pavel
