Well I just sold my Canon 5D Mark 1 to buy a second hand Mark 2 14mm Canon lens. The lens is so mint that the dealer gave me a 12 month warranty on it.
It is fantastic. Very sharp. Of course it needs to be used with care. The vertical lines when shot on the level are dead straight (the example I am going to show was tilted down slightly). In the shot the left hand edge (the wall specifically) looks very blurred - this is just a function of the DOF not the sharpness of the lens.
Here is a shot taken at 6.3 and a 100% crop following (shot on the 5D2). When you see the size of the crop compared to the original image it will give you a good feel for the type of heavy cropping that can be achieved from a 5D2 file (the crop is heavily compressed to fit under 250kb).
